Mark A. Broughton is a Fresno County criminal defense attorney who has represented men, women, and juveniles in state and federal court. He practiced law in San Diego for 17 years before moving to Fresno where he continues to practice criminal law in the San Joaquin Valley.
Mr. Broughton has been licensed to practice law for the past 33 years during which time he has practiced criminal law. He was the chief defense attorney for a 17-attorney criminal defense law firm where he worked exclusively in criminal matters for nearly 15 years.

He has worked with the Northern California Innocence Project and was successful in obtaining the reversal of a conviction in which an innocent 17 year old boy was wrongfully convicted of a double murder and was sentenced to 2 Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) prison terms. His high profile cases have appeared regularly in the media and on such television programs as The History Channel’s "Gangland."
Mr. Broughton has a strong reputation in the Fresno legal community for his knowledge of the law and is an effective trial advocate. He has been an instructor in Felony Sentencing, Evidence, Trial Practice and other criminal law topics to other attorneys in continuing legal education classes as well as San Joaquin College of Law. He has been a Mock Trial Attorney Judge and team coach, and founded an organization of criminal defense attorneys in Fresno, California. He also served as a Judge Pro-Tem for the Fresno Superior Court for several years.
Mr. Broughton is a strong supporter of Hope Now for Youth, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping change the lives of former gang members and their families. He once served as a volunteer for Volunteers In Parole, and organization which provides attorney mentors to parolees looking to make positive changes in their lives.
